Peppol access point

A Peppol access point is a service provider accredited by OpenPeppol through which a business sends and receives e-invoices on the Peppol network. The sender's access point passes the document to the receiver's access point, which delivers it to the receiver.
The receiver is found automatically: from the receiver's identifier, the access point looks up which provider serves them and which documents they can accept. Peppol uses the SML and SMP registries for that lookup, and access points exchange documents under the Peppol AS4 profile.
Latvian rules call such a business a service provider or operator. If the operator's channel is integrated with the VID interface, VID receives the e-invoice through that same channel and the business does not submit it separately. An access point is optional: an e-invoice can also travel through the e-address or any other channel the parties agree on.
Example
SIA "Ozols" signs up with an operator and uploads the XML of a EUR 1,815 e-invoice. From SIA "Liepa"'s identifier the operator finds its access point, delivers the invoice and, if its channel is integrated with VID, reports the data to VID as well.
How Fakts handles it
Fakts does not operate a Peppol access point: it prepares a valid XML file that you can hand to your operator or send to your client alongside the PDF.
