An e-invoice is not a PDF with a different name. It is structured XML that the recipient system can read automatically, with no manual entry. Fakts produces this XML to the Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 profile on a UBL 2.1 base, so it is valid in Latvia and across Europe.
Because the e-invoice comes from the same invoice you already filled in, you never enter the data twice or maintain a separate system. Issue the invoice as usual: when you email it the XML is attached, and you can also download it.
How it works
- Create the invoice Fill in the invoice in Fakts as usual, with seller, buyer and lines.
- Choose e-invoice Where you would pick PDF, choose the Peppol e-invoice export instead.
- Get valid XML Fakts returns a correct UBL 2.1 file to hand to a partner system or to a Peppol access point provider.
Why e-invoices matter
Public bodies in Latvia only accept structured e-invoices, and the B2B phase is coming. A structured invoice lands in the recipient bookkeeping without retyping, clears faster and gets lost less often.
The standard, not a single deadline
Fakts follows the Peppol standard, not one date. Whenever an e-invoice becomes mandatory for your partner, the file is already in the right format. Fakts does not run a Peppol access point, so delivery over the Peppol network goes through an access point provider.
Validity you can trust
Fakts builds the XML to the BIS Billing 3.0 profile on the UBL 2.1 schema. That means correct fields, correct codes and a structure Peppol access points accept.
Frequently asked questions
Is an e-invoice the same as a PDF?
No. A PDF is an image for a person; an e-invoice is structured XML for a machine. Fakts can return both from one invoice.
Do I have to issue e-invoices now?
For public bodies, yes, since 2025. For B2B it is voluntary until 2028, but you can start at any time.
Does Fakts send the e-invoice over Peppol?
No. Fakts does not run a Peppol access point. It generates a valid UBL 2.1 file, attached to every invoice you email; you can submit it through your access point provider or pass it to a partner.
