The State Address Register (Valsts adrešu reģistrs) is a state information system kept by the Latvian State Land Service (VZD) that records official addresses and addressing objects: municipal territories, towns, parishes, villages, streets, farmsteads, buildings, land units for building and groups of premises.

An address is a set of names and numbers in a fixed order that locates an addressing object in the country and is recorded in the State Address Register. For each object the register also keeps its status, postcode and historical names.

The rules are set by Cabinet Regulation No. 455 of 29 June 2021, the Addressing Regulations. In a state city an address is written as street, building number, premises number after a hyphen, city, and the postcode at the end. VZD publishes the register as open data on data.gov.lv, updated every day.

A company's legal address in the Commercial Register must include the cadastral designation of a building or premises, so it has to match a real object rather than free text.

Example

Under the Addressing Regulations an address in Rīga looks like "Ozolu iela 5-12, Rīga, LV-1050", where 5 is the building number, 12 the premises (apartment) number and LV-1050 the postcode.
